North Vietnam Photography Tour

Itinerary

NOTE: ITINERARY MAY BE CHANGED FOR THE BETTER EXPERIENCE IF ANY


DAY 1 - 2 OCT 2028: HANOI / MU CANG CHAI

Welcome to the Vietnam photography tours focusing on landscape photography Vietnam and candid photography Vietnam.

At 7 AM, meet you at the airport or your hotel in Hanoi, then transfer to Mu Cang Chai with 7 hours of driving.

Mu Cang Chai is renowned for its stunning rice terrace views, making it a prime location for photography tours in Vietnam. The travel service for meals and accommodation is basic. Mostly, we will use motorbike taxis to reach our shooting points, which involve 20 to 30 minutes of driving along small paths up the hills.

Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant.

In the afternoon, we'll take a photo stop at the beautiful Khau Pha Pass.

Arrive in Mu Cang Chai in the late afternoon.

Dinner at a local restaurant.

Overnight at a basic hotel in Mu Cang Chai.


DAY 2 - 3 OCT 2028: MU CANG CHAI

Early morning transfer to the shooting point for breathtaking sunrise photography. We use a motorbike taxi for about 10 minutes to reach the hills, where one photographer rides per motorbike driven by the local Hmong people, taking us to the rice terrace hills.

Enjoy a breakfast box with a lovely view of the rice terraces.

In the morning, explore the Mu Cang Chai rice terrace during the harvesting season, utilizing motorbike taxis for travel.

Return to town for lunch at a local restaurant, followed by a rest.

In the afternoon, we'll transfer by car to another viewpoint for afternoon and sunset photography, again using motorbike taxis to get to the shooting point. Capture stunning photos of the sunset over the rice terraces.

Dinner at a local restaurant.

Overnight at a basic hotel in Mu Cang Chai.


DAY 3 - 4 OCT 2028: MU CANG CHAI / PHU THO

Early morning photography at another rice terrace viewpoint in Mu Cang Chai, possibly using a motorbike taxi for transport.

Breakfast at a local restaurant.

Morning transfer to Phu Tho with 5.5 hours of driving.

Lunch and dinner at a local restaurant.

Arrive in Phu Tho in the late afternoon.

Overnight at a basic hotel in Phu Tho.


DAY 4 - 5 OCT 2028: PHU THO / HA GIANG

Early morning transfer to the shooting point for a 30-minute drive, then a 15-minute motorbike taxi ride to enjoy stunning sunrise photography in the tea hills of Long Coc.

Back to the hotel for breakfast.

Morning transfer to Ha Giang city with 5 hours of driving.

Lunch at a local restaurant.

In the afternoon, visit a Tay minority village near Ha Giang city, where we can walk around for candid photography of the local minority community.

Dinner at a local restaurant.

Overnight at a hotel in Ha Giang.


DAY 5 - 6 OCT 2028: HA GIANG / DONG VAN

Breakfast at the hotel.

Morning transfer to Dong Van with a scenic 5-hour drive.

Make a photo stop at Quan Ba for landscape photography, requiring a 300-meter climb to the viewpoint.

Continue visiting the handicraft village of linen making by the Hmong people, where you can capture candid photography moments with the welcoming elderly artisans.

Lunch at a local restaurant.

Enjoy photo stops at Tham Ma slope, known for its sunset photography opportunities amidst mountains and moving lights from cars along the streets.

Continue to Dong Van, arriving at the hotel in the late afternoon.

Dinner at a local restaurant.

Overnight at a hotel in Dong Van.


DAY 6 - 7 OCT 2028 (SATURDAY): DONG VAN

Early morning transfer to Ma Le, a 30-minute drive for street photography at the minority Saturday market, or other weekly minority markets if available.

Back to the hotel for breakfast.

In the morning, walk about 1.5 km to visit a rural village in Dong Van, discovering areas less frequented by tourists.

Lunch at a local restaurant.

In the afternoon, transfer to the Meo Vac area for more landscape photography.

Enjoy another sunset photography session in Dong Van with majestic mountain backgrounds.

Dinner at a local restaurant.

Overnight at a hotel in Dong Van.


DAY 7 - 8 OCT 2028 (SUNDAY): DONG VAN / CAO BANG

In the early morning, relish the sunrise photography in Dong Van, requiring 30 minutes of driving for stunning views of the Ma Pi Leng pass and Nho Que river.

Back to the hotel for breakfast.

Enjoy a morning visit to the Dong Van Sunday weekly market, a short walk from our hotel.

Check out and transfer to Cao Bang with 6 hours of driving.

Lunch at a local restaurant.

Dinner at a local restaurant.

Overnight at a hotel in Cao Bang.


DAY 8 - 9 OCT 2028: CAO BANG / BAN GIOC

Breakfast at the hotel.

Morning transfer to visit a handicraft village known for making incense by Nung An people, a local ethnic group, requiring a 1.5 km walk to reach.

Lunch at a local restaurant.

In the afternoon, transfer to enjoy landscape photography at God Eyes Mountain. Depending on the season, the lake may be filled with water, providing excellent photographic opportunities.

If the sunset conditions are favorable, we can capture the sunset before transferring, possibly arriving at the hotel a bit late.

Continue the transfer to Ban Gioc hotel, which takes about 1.5 hours.

Overnight at the hotel in Ban Gioc.


DAY 9 - 10 OCT 2028: BAN GIOC / HANOI

In the early morning, enjoy photography at the picturesque landscape of Phong Nam, which requires a 45-minute drive and a 15-minute easy climb on a path.

Back to the hotel for breakfast.

In the morning, visit Ban Gioc waterfall, the largest waterfall in Vietnam, known for its stunning location right on the border with China. Note that drone usage is highly prohibited here.

Then, transfer to Hanoi with an 8-hour drive.

Lunch and dinner at a hotel restaurant.

Overnight at the hotel in Ban Gioc.


DAY 10 - 11 OCT 2028: HANOI DEPARTURE

Breakfast at the hotel.

Free time until transfer to the airport for your next destination.

End of service.

  • Flights out from Noi Bai International Airport (HAN) Hanoi, can be any flight schedule on date 10.

  • Prepare warm cloth for the northern hills, sometimes it is about 10 c degrees with humidity, so it is really cold. 
  • Reliable shoes or slippers

  • The rest can be settled 1 month before the arrival date of the photo tour.
